Better Than Bullets: The Complete Adventures of Thibaut Corday and the Foreign Legion, Volume 1
by Theodore Roscoe
introduction by Gerd Pircher
The greatest creation of Theodore Roscoe is collected for the first time! One of the most popular writers to ever appear in the pages of Argosy, Roscoe penned the adventures of Old Thibault Corday of the French Foreign Legion, who apeared in more than twenty stories from 1929 to 1939. Volume 1 collects the first six stories of the series, from 1929-32.

September 19, 2012Matt,
Just received my four hardcovers of the Roscoe Foreign Legion and I’m wondering why these stories were split into four volumes. I would have been much happier paying $40-45 for a 400-500 page book instead of $60 for the same material split into two.
Can you explain your reasoning behind this move?
Thanks!

September 19, 2012We’ve received several comments from customers asking for smaller, less brick-sized books. And thus far, feedback on the slimmer editions has been positive. However, due to the higher pricepoint on the hardcovers, I can understand your concern about the thinner collections for this series.

September 30, 2012Thanks for the reply, Matt. One of my favorite publishers was Wagner’s Carcosa, so you know where I land on this thick versus thin debate.
Regardless, I have to say I love the design of these books, using the photos between stories is very attractive.
Could George Surdez be next? I certainly hope so. I’m also really looking forward to your reprinting the Major stories. Thanks for producing such fine books.
Prosit!
