Another complete series collection from Altus Press, this time focusing on the classic Doc Savage clone Jim Anthony, complete and uncut from the pages of the Super-Detective pulp magazine from 1940-43. Volume 1 contains the first three adventures, collecting the Rado Ruric trilogy: "Dealer in Death," "Legion of Robots" and "Madame Murder." These also include editor notes and correspondence, and this edition contains an all-new introduction by Will Murray.

I look forward to the next volume, as that will be new for me.

April 3, 2010I thoroughly enjoyed this collection! It may be heresy to many but Jim Anthony is far more exciting than Doc Savage. The character is more human in that he is passionate (and yes fallible). I’ve always found Doc Savage to be too cold and remote for my tastes. I look forward to the next volume.

April 3, 2010Glad you liked it! I am anxious to get Vol. 2 ready as well. I imagine it’ll be out in the fall, and I’ll probably pick up the pace on my series reprints, since Secret Agent X is nearing completion.

Jim Anthony is the best of the Doc Savage clones and it’s an amazing gift to have the original tales available in these great volumes and new adventures by modern pulpsmiths courtesy of Airship 27. All the Anthony excitement any pulp fan could wish for!
